Another Monday, Another Menu

If it's Monday then it must be time for a menu! I have been scouring the internet for recipes lately, so this menu incorporates some new recipes from Elanas pantry, plus a few tried and true. Since it's been so darn hot here lately, I haven't wanted to use the oven and heat the house, so all suppers this week are either in the crockpot or on the grill.

Monday-Rosemary Lemon chicken, grilled broccoli, grilled potatoes

Tuesday-Brisket, mashed potatoes, peas

Wednesday-Marinated pork chops, grilled zucchini, Alfredo noodles

Thursday-Grilled kielbasa, pierogi, fried cabbage

Friday-Date Night

Saturday-Leftovers

Sunday-not sure yet!

Saturday Spotlight

Hi there! Look, I'm actually posting! Can you believe it?

I read a lot of blogs. A lot. Some of them I check every day, just to see if a new post has gone up, rejoicing when there is one. Some blogs I check out every once in awhile, especially if I know the poster takes time between posts. Some of them are defunct, but it's still fun to go back and read old posts because there is usually helpful information in there. I thought it might be nice to have a "Saturday Spotlight" where I will highlight blogs that I read. That way, if someone miraculously reads my blog (other than Menu Plan Monday!), they may find a new blog that might interest them.

I'm going to start with Makin' Projicks. Sarah has been blogging a long time and I have been reading for almost as long. Her blog chronicles her life with her husband and her three kids: Jack, Sammy, and Grant (all of them are adorable!) She also blogs about her craft projects, her love of old junk and thrift/yard sale hauls. She tells it like it is, often writing thought provoking posts, and doesn't apologize for anything. And she loves to take pictures, so her posts, unlike mine, are accompanied by lots of lovely pics! Sarah also hosts the popular Heart to Heart Swap! Here's a small taste of her blog...

Tuesday: Baked BBQ chicken, roasted potatoes, salad, creamy macaroni and cheese
Wednesday: Gingered skewered beef, rice, salad, peas

4th of July and other musings

Hello!

I hope everyone had a grand 4th of July. It is my favorite holiday, but we kept it fairly low key around her with a simple cookout. We didn't even go see fireworks, opting instead to watch the Capitol celebration on tv. I believe we are going to go out to see fireworks tonight though.

I made a patriotic trifle thing for dessert and will share the recipe next week. I was recently given a new computer and I'm still trying to figure it out! I also have an intriguing bread recipe to share.

On another note, I have been doing some research on building my wardrobe and hope to be able to share that next week as well.

I hope everyone has a delightful weekend. I will be back on Monday to share my vintage inspired menu for the week.
